Forum Post: Substituting text with PW's user description instead of OS's user name using Iplot

With rendition we use text substitution to get user’s full name (which is user’s description) on PDF. However, if the user plots directly to plotter the plot shows his username (CHARACTERS == '$UserName$' in design script) . Is there a way we I can use the substitution to get user’s description from the ProjectWise instead of username from OS? For example: if the user’s name is u012346 and his description in PW is Joe Smith I want to get Joe Smith on the plot.

The following will work with iCS for PDF: if (characters == "$USER") then envr_var = "RENDSVC_USERDESC" characters = envr_value endif However, IPLOT does not have logic to process PW variables other than those documented in the Help. Enhancement 746843 is filed. Enhancement 746843: Requesting design script text substitution variable to print the ProjectWise User description.

CONNECT Edition versions of the all ProjectWise InterPlot driver packs were released earlier this year and are available from Software Downloads. This includes the ProjectWise InterPlot Driver Pack, ProjectWise InterPlot Mid-Volume Driver Pack, ProjectWise InterPlot High Volume Driver Pack and the ProjectWise InterPlot Raster Offline Driver Pack. The ProjectWise InterPlot driver packs are a collection of wide format output device drivers to be used with ProjectWise InterPlot. The driver packs provide enhanced support for selected models of medium enterprise wide-format printers from vendors such as Hewlett-Packard, Océ, and Canon, as well as create output in a wide range of raster formats. The drivers are optimized for printing complex engineering drawings and high density raster files while being totally integrated with the Microsoft Windows printing system. This release added support for Windows Server 2012 R2 (64-bit) in addition to the existing support of Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit). Windows 8.1 (64-bit) and Windows 10 (64-bit) support was added for print client operating systems and include support for Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit). In December, the ProjectWise InterPlot Driver Pack and Raster Offline Driver Packs (v 10.00.00.08) CONNECT Edition were released. The ProjectWise InterPlot Driver Pack CONNECT Edition included new drivers for the following devices: Hewlett-Packard DesignJet T7200, T3500, T2530, T2500, T1530, T1500, T930, T920, T795 and T520 Canon PlotWave 340 and 360 The ProjectWise InterPlot Mid-Volume and High Volume Driver Packs (v 10.00.00.18) CONNECT Edition were released in April. The ProjectWise InterPlot Mid-Volume added drivers for the following devices: Canon PlotWave 750 and ColorWave 500 Hewlett-Packard PageWide XL8000, XL5000, XL4500 and XL4000 A new driver was added to the ProjectWise InterPlot High Volume Driver Pack CONNECT Edition for the following device: Canon PlotWave 900 Note: ProjectWise InterPlot driver packs version 10.00.00.08 and above are not compatible with versions of ProjectWise InterPlot Server prior to 10.00.00.42. You must upgrade ProjectWise InterPlot Server to the CONNECT Edition prior to installing any of the ProjectWise InterPlot CONNECT Edition driver packs.

Figured out that I needed to configure Power Inroads as Engine instead of Open Roads Designer. (Right Click and run as administer to change)

Problem iCS for PDF email notification contains: InterPlot Organizer ProjectWise login failed on : ProjectWise Error - PWISE, ProjectWise API Error: Cannot login to the datasource ProjectWise API Error Detail: Invalid user name and password combination. Solution The default ProjectWise User credentials for iCS for PDF are not valid. The password may have changed. Using iCS for PDF Administrator, in the Bentley iCS for PDF Browser, right-click ProjectWise User Credentials and enter valid credentials. You can also change the default user at any time by rerunning the Bentley i-model Composition Server for PDF configuration wizard. For any user (including the default user) who will create and run jobs in Bentley i-model Composition Server Administrator, set that user's User Credential Expiration Policy to No expiration . or If the default user is NOT going to be used to create and run jobs in Bentley i-model Composition Server Administrator, and instead is only being used for renditions jobs submitted through ProjectWise Explorer, then you do not need to set the default user's User Credential Expiration Policy to No expiration .

Hello, Is imodel Composition Server helpful for publishing imodels from .rvt(Revit 2017) files? Thank for responds

iCS for i-models does not support Revit as an input format for i-model creation. If you have not seen information about the next generation iModel 2.0 platform that was introduced at Year in Infrastructure last week, I suggest you go to www.imodelhub.com to learn more. iModel Bridges are being built to work with iCS for iModels to sync BIM information from ProjectWise to an iModel in the iModel Hub. There will be a Revit Bridge, as well as MicroStation and AECOSim Building Design Bridges available with the iModel Early Access program.

What do you mean by:
HP Universal Printing PCL6, PCL6(v5.8) and PCL6(v6.0) drivers don't seem to work
Are you seeing errors in the IPLOT Errorlog? Are you getting garbage on the output? Are you capable of printing through IPLOT to other printers on the same InterPlot Server box? What operating system on the server? What versions of ProjectWise InterPlot Server and ProjectWise InterPlot Organizer? Can you plot from the server using IPLOT? Do you see the job in the printer queue momentarily?

We have a version 10 interplot server and I created a plot queue with HP pagewide XL4000 by Bentley driver and I have no problem sending plots to HP XL4000 plotter. Projectwise interplot server and organizer 10.00.00.42. What I like to do is to send a plot to HP color LaserJet flow MFP M880 PCL 6 Printer. I created a print queue using those three drivers but all I got is "printer busy" error message. I was able to send to some other Printer similar to M880 so I'm not sure what to do here.

Thanks for the reply. The message "Printer busy" is not coming from IPLOT so it would seen like a hardware or printer setup issue. Have you tried powering the unit off (wait at least 30 seconds) and then back on and have the "Status" change to "Ready" on the printer within Windows? If the printer goes to "Ready", try printing a "Test page". Make sure the print comes out and the printer status goes back to "Ready". If it does not, perhaps call HP? If printer goes back to "Ready" what happens when you print from IPLOT?
